This Career Event is part of the Welcome DaysExternal link from 27 th September to 31th October 2022.

As soon as you begin your studies, you become a part of a complex system of the social security as well as residence law in Germany. The first part of our lecture will give you a short overview of the structure and functioning of the social security system. You will get some advices for the daily life, eg. how to search for a doctor or why the color of the prescription matters. In the second part we will talk about your residential status during the study as well as discuss the residential options after graduation: how many hours you are allowed to work as a student, why freelance is not always possible and especally what means to search for employment according your qualification in terms of the Residence Act of Germany. Take part and get answers on your questions.

Speakers: Anastasia Sabatkouskaya, ThAFF consultant, and Markus Hodermann, managing director of BARMER in Thuringia

 

Anastasia Sabatkouskaya – ThAFF consultant since 2020. Before 5 years of experience of supporting migrants in their labor market integration in Thuringia, over 10 years work in youth policies area, international exchange programs, Erasmus + projects in Germany and Belarus. Master in Public Policy (Erfurt, Germany 2015), Diploma in International Economic Affairs (Minsk, Belarus 2006).

 

Markus Hodermann – managing director of the health insurance company BARMER in Thuringia. He has been with barmer for over 20 years as a social insurance corporation and has held a responsible position for 12 years. He coordinates all important processes for insured persons, students, employers, universities and important institutions. Special attention is always paid to foreign employees and students to ensure smooth integration.
